About Me
I am Devansh A. Dupare, I am a Sound engineering student. This blog exists to document my journey, who I am, and what I am building. It also records the things that shape my perspective, from sound and how it works to the fascinating daily discoveries I make. This is the place where I vent out my absurd thoughts.

What if Snow White ended in a different way.
Once upon a time, a king and queen had a daughter whose skin and eyes were as bright. They named her Snow White.
Not a very long time after her mother died of some cause, and after that the king soon remarried a woman who flaunts her beauty.

The new queen was very proud of her beauty. Every day she stood before the mirror and asked
“Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?”

For many years, the answer pleased her.
“You are, Your Majesty.”

But as Snow White grew up she got more beautiful that the queen. One day queen standing before the mirror asked,
"who is the fairest of them all"
“Snow White is the fairest of them all.”

The queen was so jealous of the reply that she ordered a royal huntsman to lure Snow White into the forest and execute, asking her heart as proof,
but when the moment came the huntsman was not able to kill Snow White. So he let go the princess and brought back the heart of a deer as a proof.

Scared and alone, Snow White roamed through the forest as she found a little cottage.
There were seven little plates and seven little beds she saw.
She tidied the beds, got something to eat and slept out of exhaustion.

This was the cottage which belonged to the seven dwarfs.
When they returned from mining, After getting surprised by a girl sleeping in their beds she woke up and told her story,
after hearing her story, they let her stay for a while.

She stayed home and in return they protected her.
Before the seven dwarfs left for work they told her not to open the doors for strangers.

The Queen once again asked the mirror who is the fairest.
When she learned that Snow White was still alive her jealousy grew even more.
Skilled in brewing potions, she soaked an apple in a poisonous potion.
Impersonating an old kind woman, she went to the cottage in the forest.

Even after remembering the warnings given by dwarfs she was compelled to open the door.
The queen in disguise offered her an apple,
Snow White took a bite of the apple and felt the ground coming towards her.

Queen was certain of her win, she asked once again
“whose the fairest of them all”
the mirror said
“Your Majesty is the fairest of them all”

When the dwarfs came from mining they saw Snow White unconscious,
dwarfs overcome with grief. Refusing the thought to bury her they agreed to keep her in a glass coffin.
After a while, a prince passing through the forest came upon the cottage.
He was saddened by the sight of the lifeless princess and remained by her side silently.
The Queen thought the prince would be a hindrance in her path so she lured him and took his life and made sure to bury him so nobody finds out.
The days stretched into months.
Snow White’s body slowly degrades, surrendering to time.
Without breath, without nourishment, she died completely and dwarfs finally decided to bury her as a final goodbye.
The dwarfs sobbed openly, their cottage filled with despair.

The same night when the dwarfs were exhausted from work they slept and surprisingly Snow White gave them a visit in the dreams and told she is in a better place now.
In the morning when the dwarfs woke up they felt happy and sad at the same time that Snow White is in a better place where nobody will hurt her but she isn't with them.
And after all that the cottage remained silent hiding the tale of the princess Snow White.

The Broken Radio
At night on an empty footpath there lived a shady beggar in his shelter with his small worn out radio playing beside him.
It appears to be raining heavily that his shelter is beginning to leak, and the fog is so thick that it is so heavy to breath.

A mysterious cat approaches him from the heavy mist holding a letter.
He looks at the cat strangely curled into his shelter due to cold and breathing issues, the radio still goes on when he is not feeling that well.
He tosses the radio with force on the road.
The radio doesn't stop, it gets more noisy and starts glitching, changing channels.
He is feeling very cold as if it is snowing.
His agitation turns into paranoia and sensory overload, He thinks he might die.

The songs played by radio now feel chaotic as if they have reached maximum intensity.
The beggar is on the verge of death.

The Cat suddenly vanishes.
The rain stops.
The radio stops glitching as it was broken sometime ago by him.
There was dead silence.
The fog vanishes as sunrays hit him.
It was never evening, there was no cat or a letter, the only thing there was, was a broken radio.
He puts the broken radio on the top of the wall where it belonged.

Research Focused Day Exploring Contact Microphones and Analog Synth Basics
The day was primarily research focused.
he spent his time understanding the electronics side of audio, specifically exploring contact microphones and analog synthesizers.

Contact Mic Basics
He started the day by looking into how contact microphones work,
mainly piezoelectric discs that pick up vibrations directly from surfaces instead of sound traveling through the air.
He spent time understanding how piezos turn physical movement into electrical signals and why their output tends to be high-impedance.
From there he looked into why buffering or using proper preamps is necessary to get a clean usable recording signal.
He also went through different approaches mono vs stereo setups along with basic shielding methods to help reduce handling noise and interference.
Another part of the research was on how different mounting surfaces affect the sound. Materials like wood, metal, and glass each produce their own tonal character when vibrations are captured.

Analog Synth Basics
In the evening, he moved to analog synthesis research.
He understood basic modules
VCOs Voltage controlled oscillators
VCFs Voltage controlled filters
ADSR (Attack, Decay, Sustain, and Release) which basicaly generate envelopes.
He studied waveform generation including sine, square, and sawtooth waves
and how subtractive synthesis uses filters and resonance to shape harmonic content.
He also looked into control voltage routing and how modulation in analog circuits physically changes parameters instead of relying on digital automation.

Overall, the day wasn’t really about making music or finishing any production work.
It was more about sitting with the technical side of things
understanding how sound actually gets captured and created at the circuit level,
and thinking about how that kind of knowledge could be useful later in recording sessions or when working on sound design projects.
